if i use united standBADCARDNAME  if  one of my units would be recalled or damaged does the spell still resolves because it still on field or flizzes ? i dont have it to test it XD.

  • The spell will resolve and target the minion you swapped.

  • In general: for spells and effects that do multiple things, the game tends to err on the side of doing what it can and NOT fizzling--e.g., if I play an Augmented Experimenter to deal 3, discard, and draw, but then my opponent interrupts with a Glimpse Beyond on the damage target, I still discard and draw.

The exceptions I know about are Vile Feast (no healing or spiderling if target dies first) and Glimpse Beyond (no cards if target dies first), and I think that's because the concept is that the target is specifically fueling the other results.

  • I just created a thread on Shadowshift dealing with pretty much the same question. It's surprising to me that a targeted spell would still hit the swapped unit for Stand United, but not for Shadowshift. I think it's inconsistent, and I prefer Stand United in this regard as the units simply 'trade places,' which means the spell that was cast still has a valid target to hit.

In the SI cards' cases, it's because of the word 'to' in the text. You have to do the former to trigger the latter.

Good catch. I think it's kind of similar to cards like Get Excited! in this way, which says "To play, discard 1 card." It's not quite the same, obviously (For Get Excited!, discarding is the prerequisite to being able to play it in the first place), but I agree that the word "to" seems to be a key term here.

Tbh it's not a great card at the moment. The meta trends towards buffs over big units; six mana for two Barriers feels steep in Constructed outside of specific Fiora setups or something. I find myself comparing it very unfavourably to Back To Back

  • Well SU does enable an OTK, where as shadowshift has the added caveat of dodging spells.I forget the name of the card, but the 1/2 that gains 2/0 with barriers, if shen and her attack, shen's unblocked but shes blocked, SU to give her a clear lane of attack.
