We've got news on Hearthstone's Hall of Fame additions for Year of the Phoenix! Blizzard is rotating 5 cards from the Classic set out of Standard and into the Hall of Fame.
The additions are some of the most talked-about cards in the game and requested moves to the Hall of Fame. Let's see what they are!
The 2020 Hall of Fame Additions
These cards are all moving to the Hall of Fame.
Arcane Dust and the Hall of Fame Cards
In an upcoming patch on March 26th, and the move of these cards to the Hall of Fame, all players with these cards will receive Arcane Dust equal to their crafting cost (up to the maximum number of each card that can be used in a deck). You may then also disenchant these Hall of Fame cards to receive their disenchant value - extra Arcane Dust!
2020 Hall of Fame Replacements
We do not know which cards are replacing these removals from Standard.

So, I already have a Leeroy: if I craft a golden Leeroy then I can sell it and earn a total of 1600 dust for normal Leeroy and 3600 +400 for golden Leeroy?
No, you will gain dust equal to the maximum amount of dust value of the card you can put into your deck. So for a golden legendary, that is 3200 dust. If you have a golden AND a normal version, you still *only* get 3200 dust.
If you need another example: if you have 2 normal and 1 golden copy of Mountain Giant, you will get 400 (for the normal card) + 1600 (for the golden card) = 2000 dust, because you are able to put two mountain giants into a deck.
Doesn't that mean we can craft a Golden Leeroy for free??
Yes and you can DE it afterwards to even make profit. But crafting it in golden is only worth it when you don't have a normal one.
Thanks!
Leeroy - I love that change. There was to much decks that copied him/ shadowstep him/ resurect him for OTK. While I love character I hate that card. Now they can print more Leeroy like cards in some classes, not in neutral evergreen set.
Turn 4 Mountain Giant is so frustrating for some decks. While its nice to play him its horrible to be on other side.
MCT - Die MCT Die.
Spellbreaker - he is to good to be in evergreen set. Having him makes getting any class silence useless. He is well stated and neutral. Also having him and Owl was weird. Owl have much worse stats and this is good for neutral card. While I will miss him (used him a lot) I agree with HOF him.
Out beloved Pain Guy - to reliable neutral draw, and for many classes (Mage, Warrior) even more absurd neutral Draw. Good HOF.
Actually it's March 26 not April 7.
I'll miss dropping Leeroy to win and will not miss having Leeroy dropped on me to lose. Eating chicken tonight in honor of a fallen legend.
At first Spellbreaker was kind of confusing, but it makes perfect sense. There is no reason to have 2 cards with the same purpose in the same set (especially the evergreen one).
Acolyte was surprising, but I like their direction. I never really enjoyed how most reliable card draw is found in the Neutral set. Maybe this way we get more interesting card draw for classes that need/could use it (for instance Priest). Warrior won't like this one though.
MCT can go fuck itself. Nothing to be said here, good riddance
Leeroy was inevitable. He also leaves together with Zilliax which should balance things out overall.
Mountain Giant is the most puzzling one. It was only ever a problem when you gave decks the ability to strictly build around it. I guess it opens up space for Handlock to go in a new direction. Funny how Sea Giant is the only Giant left in thee Classic set now.
Why Spellbreaker?
Basically because you want to use it just for his Silence effect and not for his stats: given this, Ironbeak Owl is considered to fit the same role and to be better at it at the same time.
Long story short, Spellbreaker is not rotated not because he's oppressive or OP, but rather because there are two Classic neutral cards with the same effect, which is quite redundant.
It is kind of a reasonable motivation if you ask me, but is Spellbreaker the biggest issue in the Classic set when we have crap like Arcane Golem, which will never ever see play? Ehh... Maybe the overhaul project has just begun.
Acolyte and Spellbreaker are massive shocks. The Owl just got his gig back.
The others? Good. The giants have been an issue for a while with the various evolution effects, Leeroy was too good in Rogue and Warrior, MCT just annoying to face.
I'd have added Alexstraza...
Thank god Leeroy is going to HoF. Just wish it was sooner.
WOW great news I have a golden Leeroy Jenkins and two golden Mind Control Tech .
Removing Leeroy is a massive hit for all aggro decks. I was already expecting the removal of MC Tech. That card has always been the culprit of major RNG swings in the game. It's possible to play around but it generated too much frustration. Swarm decks win big with its rotation but the loss of Leeroy is going to counterbalance that.
I don't care too much about Mountain Giant as it was mostly a niche card that became extremely frustrating when Conjurer's Calling came out. I haven't played in two months so i don't know if it's causing any issues at the moment, but, after the nerf to CC, it wasn't that much of a problem anymore.
Acolyte and Spellbreaker are a big surprise, but it shouldn't be a big deal as long as they print similar cards to compensate for their rotation.
Goodbye Leeroy old friend! May your days in Wild be filled with chicken.
WOW this is pretty big!
Seems like a nice selection. I hope that we get some similar replacements for mind control tech as it keeps certain play styles in check.
