Hecarim + The Rekindler was bad enough, but now Kalista + The Rekindler is ridiculous. Once you've set the combo up, she just keeps resummoning Rekindlers, which resummon her. Once there are a couple of Kalista's in play, there's really nowhere near enough removal to deal with it.
This wouldn't be such a huge nuisance, except they didn't do nearly enough to nerf all the other Shadow Isles tools that get those kinds of decks into the late game.

baku & genn atrocious design that lead to weird nerfs (by 2 mana) of cards cause of them..
Blizzard is much worse..
At least kalista is counter able you can kill her before she levels up.. played lucian quite a bit he is very hard to level up without senna..

thing is, Blizzard actually improve over time, Riot has been around for 10 years and they haven't llearned a thing and only gotten worse at it.
Did Blizzard not immediately deal with Galakrond Shaman when it became too strong? Did they not do multiple balance patches in the last year that ultimately ended up with a meta that's actually quite balanced (if you ignore SHaman being dumpster tier)
The thing about Hearthstone balance changes is that they actually do their job. If a card is OP a balance change will fix it..and if it's still a problem later they'll just do it again.
Say what you want about Baku & Genn, but they were addressed when it was needed and nobody can tell me that playing against Holy Wrath Paladin with a 2-mana Equality would have been fun.

You don't even have anything to say about Kalista; you're just here to trash talk Riot. Never mind that this is their first card game, and never mind that it's still in beta, ffs.
I invite you to pull out a calendar. Mark every balance patch that fixed a terrible card, and then mark off every day going backwards to when that card was introduced. This includes dumb shit like bringing back the Wild nonsense that made the game utterly unplayable for over 2 months.
Once you've marked off all the days when the meta was full of terrible decisions, you'll see that it makes up the majority of the year.
Blizzard is demonstrably not getting better.

Respectably: I was devastated by how Blizzard handled the Galakrond Shaman debacle. First off, that deck just...I'm trying to think of an proper analogy that respectfully doesn't include diseases or pandemics but nothing is coming to mind so let's just say it was everywhere on ladder within 48 hours of the patch to the point where I didn't even want to play. Literally: I had actually taken vacation time to stay home and play Hearthstone, and I decided I'd rather go into work than keep facing that deck--that's how bad it was. I haven't personally seen this Kalista / Rekindler deck--I'm low rank and haven't played much so take that with a grain of salt, but anecdotally that's been my experience. Second: it took Blizzard 2 emergency patches to address the issue. The 1st one was probably the most pointless, "grasping-at-straws" patch they've ever done--all it accomplished was killing Shaman Murlocs and non-Galakrond Quest Shaman, encouraging MORE people to play the more powerful variant. And when they did finally get around to a proper patch, their solution was to just gut most of their core package, not give Shaman any alternatives, and then essential walk away when Rogue just replaced them as the "it" class the next day.
If you want to say you personally appreciated how Blizzard handled that incident, OK, but please don't assume everyone shares that sentiment. I have not been that disappointed by the actions of a video game company since I was a child.
Haha... like I said in my post: Kalista has been #24 out of 24 since the open beta started; I don't really mind her going 4 weeks as Hecarim's replacement. Hopefully they realize what they NEEDED to do this week--reduce Rekindler's stats, because rez'ing a champion for 6-7 mana is fine you don't need a midsized body to go with it--and don't just re-gut Kalista.
I didn't get to play much last night--any other new interesting Kalista decks? I predicted Rekindler and Arachnoid Host, and I've been scheming up how to make Avarosan Hearthguard work but that might be too wonky. Then there's Darkwater Scourge, which candidly just feels boring compared to all the other possibilities. And Tianna Crownguard--except I'm not sure if the timing will provide the "free" rally or not.

This is really the core of my frustration - not that Kalista is suddenly not a dumpster-tier Champion, but that after what was supposed to be a major balance patch, I'm still playing against all the same basic archetypes and all the same basic Shadow Isles packages, but with the knowledge that we're now four weeks away from anything happening to fix it.
FWIW, this archetype is probably pretty easily beaten with serious aggro decks, but the meta was already nothing but aggro decks and the Rekindler Control package. It feels like Riot thought that having a different Champion be the face of Rekindler Control would somehow make the game feel a bit more balanced or fresh, but the rot underlying it is still there and making for a very boring metagame.
I seriously have no idea what you guys are talking about.
I've seem this combo ONCE so far at top 100 and it was SUPER slow, its hard to set up Kalista and the guy i faced still lost even playing the combo.

And even if the combo were a real problem, the card to complain about is Rekindler, not Kalista.
I was willing to defend Rekindler before I knew about the Kalista rework, but now it makes no sense to have a card like that if they are going to have Champions that can revive units.

Yup, I actually like the "not make a card unplayeable" policy, but Hecarim and Elusive units are still an issue.
Hecarim power budget could care less for level up when the whole SI package is busted, take away overwhelm, creep the body of rekindler and rework Elusive keyword (or make Shadow Assasinn a 1/1 that draws card, and Kinkou Lifeblade heal 2hp instead of lifesteal).
Kalista base form is lame for a 3 drop, and the level up is kinda irrelevant for the requirement. I like the direction, but kalista seems like more like meme combo card than a real champion.
Well, it will be a long month...
