We spend a great deal of time ensuring both modes have a wide variety of strategies people can use and feel effective. For standard, a huge piece of those strategies come with Old Gods. There are lots of technical pieces that have to come together of course, but strictly from a fun gameplay experience perspective I'm happy standard is releasing alongside Old Gods so we can confidently deliver on the 'wide variety of effective strategies' goal.
