How do both of them play at the highest level and yet lose so much damage to roping?

It's like Strifecro didn't know that he could queue cards. He finished all his attacks and only had to play minions, but he waited for the animations to finish.. I don't even.

As some others have said, there is a lot on the line and I'm sure that has something to do with it. Even when there isn't a tournament at stake these things happen regularly. So many outcomes to consider!
