The Hearthstone tournament scene is a racket and Blizzard needs to step in sooner rather than later

It's all a big joke and needs to be much more tightly regulated. With the way the system works now, Blizzard essentially just sits back and watches as shady & biased community members run the entire scene. It's insane that the best way to qualify for the Blizzard-run World Championships is through gaining points from such shoddy and unregulated tournaments where being invited is "Who do you know?" and/or "How popular are you?" Blizzcon itself is somewhat of a farce through its association with these tournaments.

Something needs to be done. Blizzard's done it in the past with the WCS in Starcraft 2 and unless they do something similar here, everything in competitive Hearthstone will continue to be dictated by community personalities.

Why are people constantly saying the Pinnacle counts for points when it's not listed on this post?

No idea. We hope this clears up some confusion.

Well, they are eligible if the prize pool is at least $11k, have 16 or more players, and only 50% are invites. Source

That's definitely a system that could be abused if Blizzard isn't willing to police it.

Events that are potentially eligible still need to be reviewed and accepted by the Blizzard eSports team.

Invitational events are not eligible to offer points towards the Hearthstone World Championship. To see which tournaments are currently providing Hearthstone World Championship points, please see this blog post.
