An open letter to Ben Brode
Hi Ben!
First off, you're the man. I appreciate your passion for hearthstone and your positive jovial…ness. You’ve helped create a game that I love.
But the OP’ness of Druid has begun to ruin my Hearthstone experience. Both in the game and in this subreddit.
A little over two weeks ago you said this:
"I come to reddit every day. I love reading about and discussing Hearthstone, the development process, and how we can make things better together. I don't want our communities to have a "players vs developers" vibe. I want to work with players to make the game we all love to play even better. Feedback is critical, but when it's delivered in a way that pits us against each other as factions, it is damaging. Let's work together!”
It’s my hope that you’re reading this, then, and have seen what a cluster hearthstone reddit has become. A quick perusal of the hearthstone reddit frontpage will quickly show the growing bitterness toward Druid.
I do appreciate Dean Ayala commenting about the status of Druid. We know you’re watching that state of the game. We know you care.
But it’s been a week. For us hearthstone plebs that is a longtime. We play hearthstone every day. We get demolished by Druid every day. We lose to a ramped UI several times a day. We have several 1/5’s with taunt for 5 mana summoned against us… you guessed it, several times a day.
Will you please break radio silence to tell us something like: “We would still like 2 more weeks to gather data.” Or “We’re getting closer, thanks for hanging in there.”
Will people still complain? Probably. Will it make a handful of us feel better? Absolutely.
Let’s work together!
Sincerely, me
Ben Brode
I haven't been at the office in 10 days - so I don't have the latest info on anything yet.
Generally if we decide to do nerfs, we announce them close to when they would happen, and would need to line them up with a patch, still. While we are excited about the ability to change cards without patching, we don't have that capability just yet.
Sorry I don't have a more detailed answer right now.
