Blizzard, please split the Arena leaderboard this month into pre-event and post-event.

When the new Halloween event starts on October 24, everyone will be given a free Arena ticket, and plenty of new players will rush into Arena to try the new mode. This announcement was made over halfway through the month, and plenty of players (including myself) were and still are competing for spots on the Arena leaderboard. All of this will essentially become irrelevant when the event starts because Arena will become vastly less difficult for experienced players due to all the Arena newbies using their free tickets. This has happened before.

I’m asking that this month, for the purposes of the leaderboard, Arena runs started after the beginning of the event do not get mixed in with all the other runs completed before. Dual Class Arena will essentially be a brand new game mode, doesn’t it deserve its own leaderboard?

I think we can all agree that the monthly leaderboard was a great idea and competitive Arena players definitely appreciate it. That’s why I think it should have some integrity. If the rules are going to suddenly change, I wish they would announce it before the start of the month, or ideally just split the leaderboard so the two modes don’t interfere with each other. When Blizzard announces things like this and the Free Win event back in July without any mention of how it will effect the leaderboard, it honestly feels like they don’t have any regard for the effort people are putting in to try and land a spot on it. Especially because it’s starting on the 24th, right at the end of the month! It feels like we've been "gotcha'd" by Blizzard here; this month, anyone who can cram in 30 runs at the last minute is going to have a huge advantage.

I hope that clearly explains my frustration with this situation, hopefully someone from Blizzard sees this and passes the message along. I love Arena and I’ll keep playing regardless of what happens but I’m definitely feeling a bit disheartened right now.
