To Everyone Critical of Iksar
I was intrigued to read the tweets and discussion regarding Reynad's thoughts on how to make certain types of RNG cards better for the game, and Iksar's response. I was, however, horrified by the comments about Iksar in the post that links directly to his tweets and Twitter account.
It's possible to disagree with Iksar in respectful way, without broadly generalizing how he responds to things or make personal accusations against him. Heck, Reynad even had a very respectful response on Twitter to Iksar, which highlights that they can have differences of opinion and remain cordial.
And I think it's important to bring this up because discussion and feedback from the developers is regularly requested and sought after on this subreddit. If we devolve into personal attacks when we hear something we don't like, they won't have much incentive to communicate. They have definitely been improving since the start of this year, and I was particularly impressed in their reveal of the elemental mechanic that they even chose to reveal what other iterations they tried out before deciding on the final mechanic for elementals.
You don't have to avoid criticism, but please be respectful and kind to others when you make it.
Iksar
People are passionate about various topics in Hearthstone and it's good we have a community that voices their concerns. Some of the time the tension comes because one or more of many questions wasn't answered, sometimes there is tension because a question was addressed in a way that either doesn't make sense to the person reading it or is just not an answer they agree with.
We don't think we have everything figured out, but we do have general philosophies behind why we do or don't do particular things. It's up to us to continue to monitor the feedback we get and question our design philosophies to make sure they are still holding up over time. This community and other Hearthstone communities play a big role in that. Twitter is great for being able to communicate quickly, but sometimes leads to responses coming off too short or too unrelated to the original statement looks like it may have been. In the end our objective is to make a fun game for all Hearthstone players, having an open line of communication is an important part of making that happen.
Looking forward to more feedback as the rest of Un'Goro gets revealed, I'm sure we'll find plenty of it here :).
