Note that it says a COPY of it to your hand. Wonder if you buff / bonemare this and replay it for 1 mana, it will have the stats of the upgraded version.

Only copies in play keep stats. Copies in other zones are base stats.

If you move a card from other zones (not copy) then stats are kept because it is the same exact card.

So there's no way to build upon it? It will always give a 1/1

Right you can't buff the one that goes to your hand. Although if you have something like Bloodlust or Dire Wolf Alpha those have some synergy.

Card is awful, but it's pretty memey. Memes > viability.

This is pretty true, I think it is important to have some cards for everyone :)

    Buffs don't transfer to hand.

This is true. Buffed Gibberers give you a base copy into your hand.

If a card theoretically said "exact copy" like Echoing Ooze does, would that copy the buffs onto the new copy in hand or would a card like not be available with current tech.

If there were a hypothetical card that specified it would retain buffs, or be an exact copy, we could do that. But what happens if the minion has damage? Does the damage get copied over? There's some weirdness when you make copies of minions in other zones if they retained buffs.

Would it have been easier/better/clearer to phrase it, "After this minion attacks a hero, add a Feral Gibberer to your hand." instead of using the word "copy?"

We generally try to avoid self-referencing a card name if it refers to itself. Not everyone knows all of the names of cards and it's generally easier to just have the card refer to "itself" instead of referring to itself by name. We try to be consistent with copies that go into your hand from the battlefield not keeping buffs.
