You don't have to win 5 runs, only 5 encounters. So you can complete the quest over multiple runs or just after beating 5 bosses.
Right! Important difference. Winning 5 runs would be quite a bit more work since the kobolds are quite tricky and like to kill then loot adventurers to fill the dragon's hoarde!
