Will Witchwood contain The Curator v2? Investigator Bacon is on the case.
Hello /r/hearthstone,
My name is Investigator Bacon and considering we only have 5 scheduled reveals this weekend, I figured I'd do a little predictive analysis of a card that caught my eye when the reveal schedule was first announced.
When I first saw the thumbnail, he gave me a spooky possesed witchwood Curator vibe but I didn't think much else of it. Like an evil cousin or a alter ego from a parallel universe. Check the resemblance for yourself. He has similar eyes, shoulder silhouette, heck he even has joints that are crystals which seem to be animating him. It's uncanny!
But since then, the pieces have started coming together and I'm very confident this is in fact a Curator v2. Here's what I've assembled:
FIRST:
If this mysterious mech man was just a regular ol' minion, do you think his name would be important enough to prefix with a "The" ? I think not!! -The- Crystal Knight is a very official name. So we can be sure he's a Legendary minion.
SECOND:
As we see more of this expansion, it's appearing to have a very 'Menagerie' theme to it. We've seen the menagerie monstrosity itself, Nightmare Amalgam. But it doesn't stop there. We have Scaleworm who's a Beast that wants you to have Dragons in hand. Strange card right? Well there's more!!
Mage has got multiple Beasts. Shaman has got multiple Beasts. Priest has got multiple Beasts. Druid, Warrior, Hunter - Even BAKU is a Beast. Hunter got a DRAGON?! I think this is all unfolding to a theme who's set piece hasn't been made clear to us yet.
THIRD:
Do you know what those are? THOSE ARE BADASS DEMON MECH HORNS. Do you know what that swirly elemental shit behind him is? THAT'S SOME SWIRLY ELEMENTAL SHIT. And he himself is clearly a metal mech man or sorts.
GET HYPED!!
Based on the text on Nightmare Amalgam. I think The Crystal Knight will read, "Battlecry: Draw a Demon, Mech, and Elemental from your deck." We have a Neutral Mech so far and presumably Bonfire Elemenetal will be Neutral as well. I would not be surprised to see a few more Neutral Demons/Mechs/Elementals that various classes would have interesting ways to synergize with.
FOURTH:
Remember before Witchwood was announced when Hearthstone LATAM teased this image? You see that tower in the background? That's Karazhan Tower. It would make sense that the Curator could get reanimated and repurposed outside the tower in some new story. Would be very fitting as he rotates out a moves on to this alternate timeline.
Final Thoughts:
Many personalities in the Hearthstone scene have brought up The Curator when asked what the best designed cards ever were. I think the community and Blizzard agrees. So it would make a lot of sense to start the new rotation off with an interesting deck building challenge similar to The Curator that people will revisit over and over throughout the year as they get new synergies with it. We've seen lots of interesting design and cards with massive deck building implications so far, and I think there's much more to come. The start of the year is the perfect time to print a lot of these very open ended non-forced synergy cards.
Based on the evidence I have compiled, I am very confident that we will be getting a Curator v2 under the new name The Crystal Knight and he will be a fuckin badass.
Is my case compelling? Or is it all just merely coincidence?... Well that is not for Investigator Bacon to decide.
I'll see you on April 5th /r/hearthstone. Happy speculating ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Solid arguments, people did seem to like the curator. I hope they like 2.0 just as much.
