I think /u/binwinbronzebottom had it right. The Old Gods aren't super into light, and neither are their bosses. Also the part about slapping, probably. If Void Lords could slap. Which they can't because they're trapped outside of reality.
Actually, the Old Gods are kind of the Void Lords mustering all of their might expressly to reach into reality and slap baby Titans because they're trapped outside of reality.
Also, I don't make any important decisions.
