The 7 Stages of Reddit Meta Prediction Grief

Anticipation (1 week before expansion)

(Class) is going to be broken, we know it's going to be broken. Why can't Blizzard see it, they are so completely incompetent! This game could be so good if we could just get a decent dev team who actually listened to the community instead of a bunch of corporate sellout retards who only care about selling packs. Well I'm certainly not going to pre-order! Okay so I will pre-order, but this is the last time and if the meta turns out as bad as we think, which of course it will then I am definitely not pre-ordering next time.

Denial (1 week after expansion)

(Class) is so broken! We knew it would be, it's so obvious! Looks at that game I just had there, they just cheesed me down with their overpowered crap on turn 16 there was nothing I could do about it! How can anybody be expected to play this broken game. I just hope they have the decency to nerf things quickly this time, not wait for 6 weeks like they usually do.

Patience (2 weeks after expansion)

Yes, I know what it said in the VS Data Reaper, (Class)'s dominance is not evident in the data yet, but that's because it's still really early in the expansion cycle and people are still experimenting with new stuff. When the meta settles you will see how dominant (Class) really is. You can already see signs of it at (insert tiny subsection of a subsection of the data) . Just you wait!

Bargaining (4-6 weeks after expansion)

Yes I know (Class) isn't on top of the meta now, but that's only because (other thing) is even more broken! We were right about Blizzard being terrible at card design, we just didn't understand the scale of how terrible that they would let (other thing) through. After they nerf it, all you will see is (Class) decks dominating instead and our prediction will be proven right anyway.

Diversion (8-10 weeks after expansion)

This game is way too expensive!!!

Rationalising (12-14 weeks after expansion)

Look, we never actually said (Class) was going to be overpowered. Yes, okay fine you dug up a link, well done, okay so we did say it, but we didn't really mean it like that. The whole point was less about how good (Class) would be and more about how Blizzard have continually ignored (Class2) that hasn't been viable for 3 metas straight now! (Class) get good cards every expansion why (Class2) get nothing, that was the real point we were trying to make!

Forgetting (16-17 weeks after expansion)

(Class2) is going to be so broken after the next expansion!
