Tracks Blizzard employees across various accounts.
I know he's not Ben Brode, I know some people call him and the crew cringy but Dave Kosak is keeping Hearthstone's goofiness and humor on high level for me. Let's show Dave some love!
The video was great! I think the cringy part is part of the magic that makes his and his crew's appearances so funny!
Great job from France guys! Your sense of humor transcends the borders :)
ps : I'm curious to know if some external production company helps them do these videos, and especially write the scenarios :')
It varies by video for both script and crew - scripts are always collaborative to some degree, but Dave is always a huge part of the writing for the announces especially and I think he really carried this one. We also have a really awesome in-house film team that helps with a lot of Blizzard videos, and whom I *believe* did the final editing for this. But a lot of the onsite crew for this one were actually from reality TV, which I thought was a really cool choice, and I think their director gave input on the script once Dave had early passes written up as well. (/u/TheFargo correct me if I'm getting anything wrong.)
And the crew was *so sweet*. I don't know what it is about filming crews; it's always kind of scary and surreal being surrounded by so many people who obviously know exactly what they're doing and are crazy efficient about it, but they're always so nice. The props guy in particular was really nice to me - obviously he just made the set look fucking amazing, but he was also really kind and encouraging when I was obviously scared stiff and he made sure my dumb ass didn't trip over anything while I was blindfolded.=) I really wanted to take a photo with him but I was too shy to ask, lol.
Ohhhh thats /u/Hadidjahb ! I thought she was a guy named Hadid Jahb. She has been one of my fave Blizzard employee commenters for a long time now, and I didnt even know who she really was lol
I was always a huge fan of the Storage Locker genre, and there was a moment during filming - when we were all doing the Reservoir Dogs slow walk between the lockers - where I realized I was LIVING THE DREAM. This was a lot of fun to film, I'm glad people seemed to enjoy it!
Trivia: During filming, I would bang on the door dramatically with my fist and say "Let's open 'er up!!" but the fancy-looking prop padlock we had would ALWAYS fall off of the door and clatter on the ground whenever I did and ruin the take. In the final version, I'm like, "Let's open 'er up!" and you can see me OH SO VERY GENTLY touch my hand to the door so the lock doesn't rattle off. It looks SO BAD to me every time I watch it!
I've seen the video so many times during production but /u/hadidjahb 's deadpan STILL manages to make me laugh. Every time.
We're super excited to finally be able to talk about Demon Hunter and Ashes of Outland!

I know nothing about the Storage Locker genre - when Dave says "Happens all the time in the storage locker biz!" I just have to assume that that's exactly what every storage locker biz bizzes like.
Dave is fucking amazing though. He has a hand in every one of our scripts, often the biggest bestest hand. I don't need to tell anyone here how hilarious he is. And he's like a lower-key version of that all the time - he's just a joy to be around, super genuine and modest, once got a Kobold voice actor recite the entire "Tears in the Rain" monologue from Blade Runner because they had extra time during a VO session. What more can you ask for in a man?
