Why do Chenvaala and Kael'thas count spells differently?
OK, so I was wondering about this earlier after a botched Chenvaala turn. Both cards effectively mention something happening after a certain number of spells being cast in a turn:
As we know, Kael counts the spells whether you've played him yet or not -- so you can, say, play Coin, Innervate, and Kael, and your next spell will cost (1), even though he wasn't in play when the first two spells were cast. He knows the next one is your third in the turn.
But Chenvaala has to be on board for the counting to start. Surely Chenvaala's text should remove "in a turn" to be correct, or at least add "while this is in play" or something?
e.g. if I play Elemental Evocation, then Chenvaala, then two Rays of Frost, haven't I still fulfilled the requirement for the 5/5? I've played three spells in the turn. It's not a battlecry nor effectively worded any differently than Kael, but it doesn't work the same for... some reason.
(I also think it should probably say "After every third spell you cast" rather than "After you cast three spells", since the summoning effect is repeatable, but that's pure semantics.)
Does anyone know why they operate so differently?

As Marrow said. Kaelthas's Verdant Spheres were probably the most contentious single-effecr spell I was ever involved in, because flavor-wise they're dope but they didn't actually follow the rules for pips. Either we had three spheres - rad, but the third would always be empty, or it's glow obnoxiously, or some other weird thing - or you only have two spheres that behave consistently with other pips but then it's just... not the hitting fantasy anymore, and still sort of weird because the card says three, the pips say two, yadda yadda. There was just nothing with pips that both felt right and followed the rules.
It's part of why we made sure to get them in on his BGs hero power where it did work with the mechanic, we really wanted the spheres to make it somewhere lol.
