I'm becoming increasingly angry and frustrated at colleges that offer Game Design Degrees. I learned tonight that students pay on average between $38-77k for their qualifications and they're being horribly let-down by their lecturers and institutions.

@Rovient As someone who has read thousands of applications in the last five years and also had a bad first impression of game design degrees, I would now happily recommend them to kids in high school looking for advice on how to get into the industry.

@Rovient Basically every student leaving a game design program leaves with a portfolio of games they worked on and completed with teams of varying sizes. They all have some education in code and are often as or more technical than existing designers.

@Rovient This doesn’t mean they leave school with great design sense, but it does mean they leave with a ton of practical job skills and a reasonable understanding of dev work. This is now the minimum bar, which is so, so, so much higher than it was 5-10 years ago.
