One of the recurring points in PRESS RESET is how video games company executives were so sure in the early 2010s that console gaming was going to die and be replaced by mobile gaming. Anyway, great work video game executives. You definitely have your jobs because you’re smart.

@MattGoldberg Not sure if this is satire or not but pivoting to mobile in 2010 would have been a really great idea with mounds of data to back that up. Happy to see console and pc still thriving, though.

@IksarHS @MattGoldberg Great idea for who exactly?

@TheMrMoosey @MattGoldberg Definitely both the average gaming consumer and the businesses that these executives work for. Not for me personally, but as a pc focused gamer myself, I understand that these days I’m in the minority.

@IksarHS @MattGoldberg The way it’s presented in the book is that it was worth killing ambitious games, shutting down studios, and laying off 1000s of workers on this bet. That it’s all or nothing: Mobile wins & console dies. The takeaway should not be “mobile = bad”

@themattlondon @MattGoldberg I see, a take that extreme, of course, is a bit much. Despite the industry turning mobile more and more each year, console and PC are still great!
