      ...and then I can sort of play along and see if I can figure it out. And also, as a game designer, I can analyze their game design, and see how I'd do it differently, and how the show designers are skewing things to make certain outcomes happen and such.

        Recent favorite is this terrible show where a bunch of people, mostly absolutely horrendous people are thrown together in a big party house, each with one predestined 'perfect match', and everyone has to figure out who the show picked as their match.

          And they have weekly chances to prove/disprove guesses at matches too narrow down who it could be, etc. So it's like a giant logic puzzle.                   @Songbird_HS @hypopyh I think my biggest critique is that there’s a lot of *conventionally* attractive horny fools on this show, but not nearly enough *unconventionally* attractive, IMO. So many of them just feel like clones of each other.

      @Celestalon it used to be one of mine... but then I found The Great British Baking Show and can't go back after seeing people be fairly wholesome in competition, the manufactured anger and drama just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Same with Forged In Fire. Just folk doing stuff.

            @Sarth1s Terrace House is honestly one of my favorite TV Shows ever. It's a Japanese show... They get a big fancy house, and throw 3 guys and 3 girls in it to live there together... Some people are looking to date, some are looking for friends... Anyone can leave at any time.

              @Sarth1s When someone leaves, the show replaces them with a new person. And that's it. No games, no voting... It's just watching these people live their lives and develop friendships and occasionally relationships. If that sounds really slow, you're right. Absolutely glacially paced.

        @themattlondon Yeah, it's definitely more wholesome than some of the ultra-trash shows out there. I think my main critique of the Circle is that they change the rules SO often that it stops feeling like you can think ahead and strategize and plan.

          @IksarHS @Celestalon I’m originally from Laguna Beach. There was an mtv show about there for a bit. The kids were given tons of money by the show to fit the narrative that everyone was rich.

            @IksarHS @Celestalon Also they edit things to fit their narrative. Certain scenes in limos (see previous tweet a about funding) were cut together to form some drama that hadn’t actually taken place. One sentence they’d be in downtown, then the response, the background would be miles away.

                  @codechemist @IksarHS Yep, not surprised about that; I was an extra on a reality cooking show once (as in, I ate the food at the restaurant), and it was super fake and pseudo-scripted too. They had a very clearly planned narrative and got the shots they needed to sell that narrative.

        @IksarHS A fair point, but I also think you've got to be at least a fair bit of an asshole to be outright racist on one of these shows. I don't expect they're really AS BAD as they come off on the shows, but most of them are probably a milder version of these characters.
