Battlegrounds seasonal external rating reset and internal rating renormalization + high/low end rating clipping will also happen in 20.2. We are planning to add rating floors and protection zone back with algorithm update to prevent system exploitation behavior such as tanking. https://t.co/yBmEE57L3P

@sky_tding Out of curiosity, how would the rating floors and protection zone work?

@cdaro753 You will not drop any external ratings within protection zone and not drop below the floor value once above that floor. E.g. if you are above 4k external rating you will be not able to drop below 4k.

@sky_tding Could you provide a little more insight as to what is meant by internal rating renormalization and high/low end rating clipping? Assuming the clipping is the internal reset to 10k or something? Is normalization a system-wide rescaling, or just inherent to the rating clip? Thanks!

@pocky_plays High end is at 8k. Low end is at 0. Renormalization is basically a re-map of the internal rating to a bell-shaped curve -- such map of each region is a bit different as the distribution is not the same. For example, NA 8k this season will be roughly at 6k internally.

@sky_tding Can you share at what rating the internal mmr will be reset to at the higher end? Asking for a friend 🙂

@SwissGuy_ 8k, which is top 3% of all active players (played at least 5 games in recent 20 days)
