I know I was horde for a long time but I cannot stress how fucking sad I am to see the alliance raid scene just go belly up

@ohgoditsranor Honestly, one of the things that slowly sapped the fun from WoW for me was having to be Horde to raid at a decent level. I imagine I wasn't alone in that.

@Vigil_latte @ohgoditsranor Definitely not alone. The writing was on the wall by Wrath; the fact that it took them till WoD to fix racials (by which time the slide was irreversible and beyond just ‘balance racials’) is testament to just how long they chose to pretend it wasn’t an issue.

@MagdalenaDK @Vigil_latte @ohgoditsranor <remembers debates with devs in which they blamed us for causing the problem by overinflating the importance of racials in our messaging to other players>

@MagdalenaDK @Vigil_latte @ohgoditsranor (or wait, maybe I thinking of all the debates in which they blamed us for causing spec representation imbalance by overinflating the DPS differences between specs?)

@SvelteKumquat @MagdalenaDK @Vigil_latte @ohgoditsranor i remember like exactly one time this actually happened which was subtlety at the end of cataclysm, where everyone assumed it was the “pvp spec” so nobody played it so the meters looked bad so nobody played it etc, and then spine of deathwing came along and boom it was “good”

@madsushi @SvelteKumquat @MagdalenaDK @Vigil_latte @ohgoditsranor Player behavior (socially, not just gameplay) can definitely affect things like spec balance and faction balance. Ultimately, it's devs' responsibility to account for that though (which can be incredibly hard when things like and influencer's whims can have such a huge effect).

@Celestalon @madsushi @MagdalenaDK @Vigil_latte @ohgoditsranor Our forum convos also got heated, I think, b/c... well, partly because they were entirely text-only, and partly b/c it can be so hard to discern where the noise is within a data set, and what the cause vs. effect is in that noise. and so easy for emotions to spike in those convos

@SvelteKumquat @madsushi @MagdalenaDK @Vigil_latte @ohgoditsranor Indeed, all true. People tend to min/max opinions (their own as well as other people’s) as well as damage in the WoW community, I’ve noticed.
