shower thought Clothing brands are regularly considered to be high-quality. Chanel, Dolce, Gucci, etc. Why are restaurant brands (chains) almost never considered to be high-quality?

@IksarHS hrrrm this is pretty subjective i think. the economics of food service at scale usually involves some level of quality compromise but there are absolutely some brands with an inherent positive quality judgment - in-n-out, legal seafoods, and fogo de chao to name a few

@RidiculousHat I think if you look at like say, the local awards, for the best 100 restaurants in a county. Almost none of them will be chains.

@IksarHS you may be inside a foodie bubble

@bbrode I think this is probably true. I was about to make a statement that no one says that their favorite restaurant is a food chain. Then I thought about it and decided that wasn't true, just true for me and my food snob friends like you.

@bbrode I wonder if clothing snobs are like this, too? If I was a former fashion consultant would I actually think Gucci was great or would I only think these one-off local designer brands I found were the best.

@IksarHS 1. Would like to point out that you have been "ratio'ed" 2. Id say there are some "fancy" ones like Nobu or the chef is more of the well known name

@Slysssa I wish I could go back to not knowing what ratio meant
