Why is Marketing/PR always shit on when a game dev thing happens. Good or bad. It's so often either "oh this sucks dev was clearly forced" or "wow this dev answer is just a shitty canned pr reply" or "yay something good happened but it's probably disingenuous bc marketing" etc

Do y'all even know the breadth of how dev and marketing/pr work together? Why are marketing and pr often the bad guys? Do you think all the cool stuff actually happens without these groups knowing and participating in the work around it?

The number of times I would go to reddit and see the hs folks there just BASHING pr often for things I had literally nothing to do with was always super cool 🙄

@TheLyns The number of times I can recall, just off the top of my head, where marketing and PR chimed in and steered something in a better direction for both the players and game is a very high number. They are a critical part of the dev process!

@TheLyns Also, devs aren't flawless, infallible, creative pixies flitting about making beautiful mushroom art in a pristine woodland. More often than not devs are rabid, chaotic, pixies lighting everything in sight on fire to find the one burning tree that sparks joy. Respectfully :)
