After a brief respite immediately after the patch, I feel like @PlayHearthstone standard is pretty much back to being linear combo decks and aggro. With Mercenaries seemingly the next big focus, I don't expect we'll see major changes any time soon, which has me worried.

@bmkibler @PlayHearthstone the teams that work on merc and standard are completely different, and should not impact one another

@IksarHS @bmkibler @PlayHearthstone You know that isn't true. You've said multiple times that standard things have been put on the back burner as everyone focuses on the game mode no one asked for.

@writes_jo @bmkibler @PlayHearthstone New features yes, but the team has the same number of people working in card design and card balance as always.

@writes_jo @bmkibler @PlayHearthstone So the archetypes, archetype balance, or generally the way standard plays have not had any people pulled from it and there are no plans to do so.

@IksarHS @PlayHearthstone I mean timeframe-wise we’d been previously seeing the mini-set around the time of the mercenaries release, and it sounds like that’s coming later this time, so it does not seem like they are totally independent

@bmkibler @PlayHearthstone Ah, I see what you mean. That much is true. Mercs was originally scheduled for an earlier time, got pushed back, and then the miniset patch got pushed out as well even though the set itself was complete.

@bmkibler @PlayHearthstone For the sake of clarity, delaying the miniset wasn't a strategic choice, but rather something that was necessary due to the work involved with merging all the miniset code into a totally different patch.

@IksarHS @bmkibler @PlayHearthstone It's totally a strategic choice. Maybe not made by you but releasing a major mini set at the same time as mercenaries launch would seriously undermine the new big mode. And that's where many people are disappointed. Why not push back mercenaries instead since its a big commitment

@Nicky61291655 @bmkibler @PlayHearthstone We actually did try to pull the miniset into the same patch, work just wasn’t realistic to finish in time to make it work.
