Reminder: turn based games aren't niche unless you decide that they are. Some of the most broad, popular properties are turn-based, and the difference is marketing and offering.

@MorelloNMST We often have this argument internally, starts to help when defining what niche actually means. To some it’s less than a million copies sold and to some it’s outside the top 5 games on twitch

@IksarHS Good point. Targeting the market size for a game is critical. I think this is also something people struggle with a lot; exploring ROI of scope, brand and impact of the game. That being said, I feel if anyone called Hearthstone or Pokemon niche, I'd have concerns

@MorelloNMST Consumer surveys would tell you that digital CCG is both the least liked and most hated genre of game. That might make any game in that space a 'niche' game but definitely doesn't mean there isn't enough room to be incredibly successful.

@MorelloNMST Games market is so incredibly (like wow, really incredibly) large and prospering that you can still have a mega-hit even if your target audience is a small sliver of the gamer pie graph.

@IksarHS For sure - it's why HS is such a winner in terms of impact. I don't know profitability numbers ofc, but I imagine it being considered a "strong investment"
