@Caeles_Luna We had a long debate about this, forever ago. I worked in QA on WoW quests and happen to be the lead for a zone called the Dread Wastes. In that zone, the finale quest has you walk alongside a Klaxxi fellow who thanks you for your help but also softly threatens to murder you…

@Caeles_Luna He says if the old gods return, he’s on their side. His VO then calls out Y’shaarj by name, which he pronounces yah-sha-raj.

@Caeles_Luna If I remember right, I think @bbrode went directly to Metzen and asked how do you pronounce this character to which he said, ee-sharj or yuh-sharj I don’t remember now.

@Caeles_Luna @bbrode I took issue with this because, as I said, I had heard this name spoken within the game and it was clearly pronounced ‘yah’sha’raj’. I think we argued about it briefly but then hit up creative dev (the final authority) who told us that the correct pronunciation is ‘yah’sha’raj’.

@IksarHS @Caeles_Luna IIRC, it wasn’t Metzen, it was the lore team who dug up that dread wastes VO for us. I remember calling everyone involved in the pronunciation a lunatic 🤣 (no idea who it was) To be fair yah sha raj sounds way cooler

@bbrode @Caeles_Luna There are some pronunciations that I just flat out refuse to acknowledge. Like it’s supposedly Overlord SOAR-fang and not SOUR_fang? Just no.

@IksarHS @bbrode @Caeles_Luna Yeah, I’m also on Team Yuh-shaaarj, not yah-sha-raj. I think Klaxxi bro just didn’t know how to pronounce his own god’s name right. (Though technically, I’m not sure humanoid mouths are meant to be able to, let alone insect mouths.)
