@laxmere @JimmyTalksPats I’m not engaged enough to have an informed opinion about this, but my gut is telling me he’s below average (but only just).

@hsdecktech @JimmyTalksPats To be an NFL quarterback you have to be really talented, right? So does it come down to how many “headscratchers” you have? Like not hitting the easy crosser or throwing the ball away and instead taking a sack for a huge loss? I like Jimmy G, just not sure. Coaching matters too.

@laxmere @JimmyTalksPats Yeah, I mean to be in the NFL at all means you're in the .001% or whatever. Then to be a starter puts you even in the top of that. So it's all about context. The first Q was whether he's good NFL QB, which I took to mean "how does he stack up in all the league's starters."

@hsdecktech @laxmere @JimmyTalksPats He's above average IMO. What's average is skewed so ridiculously by guys like Brady, Rodgers etc. and what they've been capable of doing for 2 decades. Just because a guy doesn't live up to two of the greatest to ever play doesn't make him bad.

@hsdecktech @laxmere @JimmyTalksPats There are teams (Jets for example) that would have killed to have his production for the last 5 years. 32-13 career record, 2 : 1 TD to INT, completes 67+% of his passes.

@hsdecktech @laxmere @JimmyTalksPats This year in particular 90+ QB Rating in all games except 3 (and all 3 of those came in a row right before and after he was hurt). Hell, he even took the Niners to a SB (he did not play well, but that shouldn't discount the work he did to get them there...

@hsdecktech @laxmere @JimmyTalksPats ...and he wasn't on the defense that gave up 3 scores in the 4th quarter to blow the lead). Hall of famer? No. But absolutely a serviceable QB in a league where there are maybe 10-12 desirable franchise QBs at any given time.

@DondeHS @laxmere @JimmyTalksPats Like I said, I'm not informed enough to make a real argument about this, I was just thinking that if I ranked the QBs, he'd be somewhere in the middle, but probably just outside the top 16.

@DondeHS @laxmere @JimmyTalksPats Looking at the list of them now, I'd say 13-14 QBs are clearly better than him, and then he's part of the next group of 8 or so where you can spend all day arguing how to rank them.
