So it doesn't work like WCS with points awarded to everyone over the 3 seasons to determine who goes to blizzcon? The outcome of the 3rd season is all that will be used to determine who goes to Blizzcon?

Correct. Each Global Championship takes teams from the regionals from that season and that season only.

I'm fairly certain it's impossible for them to not qualify now(though it's hard to find details as to how exactly the system works), but they did somehow find a way to not even make it last year. Quite a bit can happen in a year

Each season is completely reset. They have to qualify again just like any other team from their region :)

Is it $1million prize pool for the final event at blizzcon, or $1m prize pool for the entire Fall Championship including the regionals?

BlizzCon.

The Regionals all have their own prize pools.
