Is it just me or is the 75% spellpower after getting 30 blight seem crazy? Not because I have any judgements about his overall dps, but that is a crazy power spike for a hero to have. Must be pretty weak until he finishes it.

This is one of the things I love about Kel'Thuzad's design. He was created from the ground up with that quest in mind.

Kel starts out about the same power as other mages, but scales slower as he gains levels. The quest gives him a large power spike and when it happens is in the hands of the player, rewarding skilled play. Prior to its completion, he relies more on his CC, which is what you have to do to complete the quest anyway.

Complete the quest early and you've got a mid-game monster on your hands, but the reduced scaling brings him back in-line with other mages in the late game. The window of opportunity you have to take advantage of that power spike is in your hands and smart opponents will seek to limit his ability to gain Blight to delay the completion of the quest and shorten that window.
