Why does he wear that thing on his head while competing?

Wearing headsets that you're not used to for long time can make you uncomfortable, thing on head can alleviate that.

I mean...I understand that...but he is the only one who seems to do it out of all the esports players that I have seen?

There's a lot of people that have their own style. Some play with a napkin over their mouse or keyboard, some play without shoes on, some play with a hoodie on or they can't play. It's all up to personal choice as long as it doesn't provide an unfair advantage.
