How does one get a job at blizzard support? Where does one learn what kind of roles there are in that sector of the videogames industry?

    Start here: https://careers.blizzard.com/en-us/

More specifically to your question of getting a job in "support" there's two main paths I'd point you to, customer support or quality assurance. Again, more specifically here: https://careers.blizzard.com/en-us/disciplines/qa-localization-cs

I'm not a recruiter or really anyone that deals with hiring people though so that's about the most help I can give. Best of luck if you apply!

Another MOBA game has published articles and done dev presentations on this exact kind of campaign and found they are wildly successful at improving report rate and report accuracy (players report more often when they should and malicious players report less often with fake reports).

However, their findings also concluded that the emails or in-client popups must occur right when the action occurs, and only if the action taken is a result of a recent report.

AKA: Sending emails for a report you sent months ago is not as big a motivator as sending emails or in-client popups for reports sent the same day.

If you want to watch the presentations or review the findings, google "Project Optimus" or "GDC Shaping Player Behavior in Online Games"

We'd like to get in-game notifications for these in the future as that is more noticeable, but didn't want to wait for that to roll out the email notifications.

To address some of the other comments in this thread:

    • This is a new process that just started this week.
    • The reports are sent when the action is taken. You only get the email if one of your reports led to action.
    • It's our policy to not provide identifiable information or details on the action that was taken. So, unfortunately, those of you who want to know which of the players you reported were actioned and how many fingers they lost are going to be disappointed.

Wait, we can have them lose fingers? Cool! One more reason to report the naughties.

I may have slightly extreme desires when it comes to dealing with players who are intentionally damaging the game...
