Blizzard MMR system, not working as intended? 2018 Season 2
Okay, trying to get my head around a situation. Correct me if i'm wrong but Blizzard ranking system works under the following conditions: - If you did not play 15 ranked games from last season your MMR is re-seeded from Unranked Draft or QM - As of Season 2 2018 the highest you can possibly seed from your QM / UD MMR is Platinum 3, if you win all 10 games you would place Diamond 3
So, we have a scenario. A player plays 10 games in 2018 Season 1 and goes 6-4, gets placed Master. He had played 10 games the season previously 9-1 and also placed Master.
However, according to the way the current system works, he should now be seeding from his QM/UD mmr, correct? Because he did not complete 15 games last season. Technically, this player should be seeded at Platinum to begin with? And if he loses from there, his Plat MMR should adjust accordingly, regardless of how high his QM/UD MMR is.
Somehow, this player has 2 wins, 5 losses in the current season and is playing in Low-Mid Master tier placement games. Surely this is incorrect?

Not to mention this guy kind of 'fed' in the Master game.

Re-seeding only happens if their unranked draft MMR (or QM if there's not enough UD games) is significantly different from their ranked MMR.
The point of re-seeding is just to make sure the system is using the most up-to-date data, so if their MMR in unranked/quick is close to their MMR in the ranked mode, no re-seeding is done regardless of game count in the previous season.

Because UD is more similar to ranked modes, it's preferred as long as there is enough data. QM is only used if there isn't enough UD data.

They definitely count.

Thanks :)

I believe it's the same criteria: 15 games in the last season.

Same rules apply.
