This is just not true, friend. That draft was a targeted pick to throw off DK and play in a way that was almost entirely unique to competitive play.
Also as to your other comment about teams "knowing" that they are going to win a match and drafting what you call standard, every game matters in HGC. Their record will carry over to the next Part of Phase 1 (the second round robin) so it's understandable that they are going to go with what they believe will lead to their strongest chance of victory.
Additionally, metas don't typically change quickly during league play, especially in the pro scene.
