Do NOT stockpile on Hextech Mystery Champions if you have all Champions.

A friend of mine recently sent me this image: in which the player support guy says that Mystery Champ shards are rolled from the purchase date instead of the opened date.

Sadly i bought 4 of those and warning people before they buy them to get Zoe or w/e newer.

EDIT: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/7bu8r1/do_not_stockpile_on_hextech_mystery_champions_if/dpku71l/

RiotCalad said he's looking into it. Everything's fine you can buy these. Wait these aren't shards anymore, you just buy Mystery Champs Directly. Fuck.

Edit #2: Mystery Champ Shards are back in the shop, but now they award a champion when you buy them instead of when you open them, similar to other mystery content. We intended these shards to be an option for players who wanted to fill out more of their champion roster for a discount during the essence emporium - not as a way to stockpile mountains of shards for the future. That said - since it was our mistake on the shards functionality, if you bought shards prior to this change expecting to use them for future content - we're going to honor that, and you'll still be able to use shards in your inventory for champs like Zoe.

Okay it's pretty hard not to feel 100% scammed by you guys now. You announced the BE shop to be around for a bit and because you guys made a mistake that you're now trying to cover I can't take use of a really good opportunity to not run into money problems later on. Do you think I wouldn't have bought a couple of them right away if I knew you were taking them away 2 days after their introduction? I obviously expected those things to be purchasable for as long as the BE store lasted and now I was majorly screwed over.

Here's what you should do instead: Accept you made a mistake, clarify that this wasn't intended but accept the loss and keep them the way they are for this BE emporium sale.

I can't state enough how disappointed I am in you guys. I really hope you reconsider what you did and do the right thing to make up for this. As of now I feel scammed.

We did make a mistake, this wasn't intended, and we are accepting the loss of people who bought this item thinking they would be able to use it for future champions.

But I don't agree that means we need to purposefully leave the incorrect item up for the next 2 weeks. Once we realized the mistake, we pulled it down until we could put up the intended version. I'm sorry you feel disappointed in us, but I hope you can understand why we made the changes we did.

I've opened a ticket and also there's others on the support forums that have the following thing happened to us:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/7bx12s/riot_just_readded_the_new_mystery_champion_and/dpli5ip/

Which is heartbreaking considering we were expecting to be able to use the Essence Emporium Token until this was recently added. I wasn't looking to stockpile, but simply get all the remaining champs I have.

I think that is fair feedback - the limitation on the mystery champs requiring 10 unowned champs seems a little confusing to me.

I don't think we'll be making any additional changes during the essence emporium, but we'll take a look in the future and see if that limitation still makes sense.

Look, guy. This is BS. Sorry, but it really is. This screws me over so hard because I was waiting for a clarification on this. You can't just put them in the store one way, have us check how it works and then change it. I'm so damn mad right now. Like, I like Riot, I've always talked about them as a company that's good to their clients for a free to play one, but now, well, I'm so pissed off that I'm considering uninstalling the client. I know that sounds like the regular hissy fit thing you get around folk, but I swear, this is highly unusual for me, I'm pretty calm about most things.

I was sitting on 140k blue essence and was going to use it to get those damn shards, then hold on them for a few weeks after they get removed from the store, get the 11 3150 champs I'm missing and then open them for good times. Now that they auto open I'm so screwed. I've basically lost thousands BE by waiting and I can't even open them now to avoid getting Graves since I get him for free as a season end reward. You screwed up putting them into the store in the form they were? Own up to it and keep it there, don't screw some the slower of us over.

I was damn excited for the essence store, thought it was a nice thing you guys did and now you basically kick me in the face for being patient? I waited because I thought Riot was a OK company that wouldn't screw their customers over, so at least I wouldn't be worse off for waiting. Shows me for a fool.

Yeah, screw this. Sorry, but changing stuff like this on the sly? Riot just lost so much face with me it's hard to even put into words. Loyal customer from S1, always happy with what you guys did, but now, just thinking about the game makes me see red.

I'm sorry you feel like we were pulling a fast one on you :(

This was a case of the product on PBE working as intended, but bugging out on live, so we pulled it from the store until we could verify what had changed.

I apologize if I'm misunderstanding you here, but if you only have 11 3150 champs left to buy - it would be cheaper to purchase them directly with your blue essence rather than rolling for them through champ shards (which cost 3950 blue essence). The current shards only grant champions of value 4800 be and above.

the mystery champion option is not gonna stick in the shop forever?

No, but it may return in the future.

Regarding edit #2, it would be better if you changed the requirement so a player needs a "1 champion eligible pool" instead of 10. That change would accomplish what you intended, summoners "filling out their roster" without the stockpiling "issue" (which isn't an issue imho since it was a feature pre-economy rework, only the cost for the three mystery champion shards a summoner needed was slightly higher -5100 IP-)

That makes sense to me TBH - our mystery content is pretty consistent with the 10 limitation across the board right now, but I'm not sure if it should be with mystery champions.

I don't think this will be a change we make during this sale, I'm afraid, but I will bring it up for next time, because I think your perspective is sensible.

Hey, I played with you and Riot Des yesterday. I was AP Nunu top and you were Bard. Thanks for jumping in to save the day.

P.S. did you send Cactopus my message?

I stopped him at lunch to tell him <3

    LOOKING INTO IT SIT TIGHT

Edit: Ok, the player support person is wrong in this case. Any shards you've already purchased will roll depending on when you open them.

We're taking the item down for the time being, but will try and bring it back in some form soon.
