We're aware of the bug. It even happened to me (I was deliberately testing during our deploy to make sure things were stable)! I'm not guaranteeing it fixes every bug (it's Beta yo!), but definitely if this happens close your client and log back in to the game to force your client to refresh your latest data.
If you still feel you've lost progress/cards/etc please contact Player Support, they have the data necessary to see what happened and if appropriate can help you re-mediate the situation. Be advised however, don't try to pull one over them :)

Update: This bug should be resolved, you should no longer need to log out and back in. We deployed a back end services fix that was causing the problem that was confusing the client about the XP state.
