Could be it. They clearly have two different templates to use.
Must have decided that a showcase gets across what they wanted better than a reveal.
So a "showcase" has the fancy intro + plain English text that hopefully even a total card game newb can understand, whereas a "reveal" is a hype trailer that pauses on new cards for easy reading of the actual text.
Showcases are aimed slightly more at new players, and we'll be using them in that marketing. They're less about explaining precisely what a card does, and more about how it feels to play and what makes it awesome.
We figure those animated intros are pretty cool tho, so rather than make a separate reveal without em, we'd share the showcase with existing players as well (along with the static image of the card). Plus, saves our excellent gameplay capture / video editors some time so they can work on other important stuff.
I don't like their champion showcases as much as their reveals. Lee Sin and MF had the worst champ intros.
