Linking Riot Account to LoR Account for backup

Hey all! New player here, just jumped off HS and onto this game. I signed up, started playing, etc, and I noticed in the settings it's asking me to link my Riot account. I created my Riot account when I signed up for LoR, so I have an account, but LoR didn't recognize it. Now, when I try to connect a Riot account, it asks me to create a new one. I don't want a second account, I want the account I already created. How can I connect my already-created Riot account to LoR?

    Quick question slightly related. I have an old Riot account I used for league, but my LoR is a device account, and then I have a secondary LoR account (with way less stuff unlocked) attached to my league Riot account. I believe they both use the same email address so I don't seem to be able to create a second riot account for my Device account, or sign in to it from anywhere except for the fact that my phone remembers it. How do I make sure I keep this account when I switch phones? I have almost a full collection and I don't want to lose it! Thanks for your help and time!
