Small changes in Spectator Mode

New: https://i.imgur.com/SJ4NxGi.png

Previous: https://i.imgur.com/S0y9AAF.png

  • Font changed

  • Ultimate icon changed

  • [Maybe a bug] Sometime the ULT icon turns yellow but i can't understand the reason behind it [It's not because lucio is on healing song because it happened with Ana too]

  • When someone dies, the hero portrait disappear, to make clear how much time player respawn

To be fair, i prefere the previous one

I think a further problem with resolution is that H.264 video compression splits the image into brightness(/luma/Y) and colour(/chroma/UV) channels and usually encodes the colour channels at half the resolution, so the brightness might be 1280x720 but the colour is only 640x360.

That means UI elements like the black-on-dark-red capture point progress numbers might look fine in the game itself at 720p, but are unreadable in the stream since the edges only exist in the UV channels and are essentially downscaled to 360p. The black-on-lightish-blue numbers are much easier to read since they have higher contrast in the Y channel. That could hopefully be improved by choosing UI colours with better awareness of how they're going to look after compression.

I met with some of the broadcast tech folks at the Blizzard Arena today. We worked hard for a great broadcast at BlizzCon, but there’s a lot more work left. Having the highest quality broadcast is a top priority for us.
