Is it too late to get on the Overwatch train?

I've been watching a lot of Overwath lately and it looks awesome. I love the idea of the heroes. Its like Lol meets an FPS. Don't know how I didn't get in on it earlier.

How is the game for someone starting from the bottom? Is it all sweats since the game is older? Am I gonna get blasted trying to get up to the skill level?
