For me the answer to both is Battlegrounds. Bored out of my gourd with ladder. Battlegrounds brought something fresh to the game. Hope there will be more of that in 2020.
Yes, some people have real problems with emotes. Those of us who believe in common courtesy don't mind a greeting at the beginning of a match or a respectful "well played" at the end of the match. Insecure people are offended by any and everything.
That said, I never accept friend requests right off. Give it an hour or so. If they really want to be friends… cool. If they were just hot, they probably have gotten offended five more times since then and won't remember who you are.
Can't edit original post; sorry! Just sharing the wonder of getting the passive that gives you the Death Knight hero power and the passive that lets you use your hero power twice. I got the Paladin Death Knight power.
I'm too much of a casual player to get into ranked play. Battlegrounds ties me up for too much time at one sitting. Duels is right for me.

Great article. The most fun deck I play is a traditional C'thun warrior. Never got more than 7 wins, but it's a blast to play.
My best run (11 … still can't get 12) was a demon buffing Warlock deck.
Having a lot of fun with this one. Don't have Barista Lynchen, so I threw in an In Formation!.

I have 2 EVIL Cable Rat cards in my arena deck. Neither is triggering a lackey when I play the card. Wish I'd known before making the deck!
