Something is loose in the newsroom... Clickbait Tycoon's first seasonal event, THE MIDNIGHT EDITION, is live, and it's a whole spooky mini-game hiding inside the main game. Publish ghost stories, get paid in candy, and staff up a night shift that only clocks in after dark.
New Bosses
Out of Games regulars will recognize the trouble. The five bosses haunting the newsroom are the same ones that crawled out of the pumpkin patch for Oozefest, and each one is a little satire of the industry:
Gourdon the Rotten, the story that will not die
The Bone Broker, who sells you back your own stuff, and you signed for it
Mother Spindle, the web that holds everything
Sir Hollowmere, the empty suit with nothing under the helm
The Oozelord, the content flood: all of it, at once, in one shape
Beat all five and they come back tougher, level after level, so the real question is how far you can push the Oozelord.
New Event System
The mini-game resets every October, but what you win stays in your main game for good. Each boss you beat for the first time in an edition pays out real rewards:
30 Evidence Points per edition for your Evidence Board
Two event pals, the Pumpkin Armordillo and the Death's-Head Moth, with the same stats and much better outfits
Five animated Halloween front pages. Three are earned from the bosses, The Midnight Edition comes with a code from clickbaittycoon.com, and The Ooze Report is an exclusive in the Out of Games shop
20 event awards on their own orange paper, which never count against your main 100%
Graveyard Shift, a brand-new spooky song that's yours to keep in the jukebox once you beat the Oozelord
Missed October? Switch the event on whenever you like with the new EVENTS setting. Start a save in March and it can still be Halloween. Each new October brings a fresh edition with fresh rewards to chase.
More Updates in 0.6.1
0.6.1 isn't only about the event! Throwing away eggs now spikes them onto the Slush Pile, which lights the Hot Take Lamps to hatch eggs twice as fast. The new Kill File auto-spikes eggs you don't want, shiny eggs now glow gold, and a jukebox in the corner of the newsroom looks suspiciously like a certain late-90s MP3 player. It all comes with a pile of bug fixes too - thanks to the community for finding them.
Clickbait Tycoon is in Early Access on Steam, and we'd love to hear on Discord how far you pushed the Oozelord.
