Here are the latest spoilers for Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths. We've got a few more days of scheduled reveals remaining (ending on Thursday). For Theros there was a large dump of cards at the end, so we'll see what happens. Go for Blood is basically “Single Combat” from Runeterra (with cycle added). Magic’s already “stealing” from Runeterra!
I don't think that is what is happening. This isn't exactly the first "fight" type thing in Magic.
Oh okay, so it's more likely Runeterra "stole" the idea first. I guess we'll have to wait a while longer for Runeterra to inspire cards in other games
Nearly everything in a CCG like this is a "Simpsons did it!" situation.
Many ideas have already been taken before, and if you're using Magic as an inspiration for your game as many of them do, it's inevitable that you will run into situations like that. This doesn't mean that one card game is "stealing" one idea from another game. It's like saying Hearthstone stole Pot of Greed from Yu-Gi-Oh when they made Arcane Intellect.
And for what it's worth, LoR still manages to be pretty unique in several other regards, like just the turn structure for example. I certainly wouldn't have thought of that.
The three "Forbidden Friendship" cards are actually kinda cute. A stranded human and a dinosaur being able to bond together. It's almost heartwarming actually.
Genn and Baku make their debut in MTG after all these years.
