Good Morning Magic! Gavin Verhey now has his own Magic channel for the series of videos he started during the quarantine. Today on Good Morning Magic, here's what we learned.

  • Extinction Event was originally designed for Commander 2019.
  • Drannith Healer originally didn't have the "gain 1 life" part of the card. Gavin suggested the addition to line up as a mirror of Drannith Stinger.
  • Its possible we could see another batch of colorless non-artifact creatures in the future - the response has been positive.
  • The 3-mana Crystals which can be cycled originate from Shards of Alara.
    • They wanted to put cycling on them back then and didn't which caused them to be too weak.
  • Skycat Sovereign was inspired by Pride of the Clouds.
    • They were working on a Blue/White Rare Flying Matter Creature to finish out a cycle of keyword matters.
  • Verge Rangers & Cartographer's Hawk were created to help White in Commander - they've heard MTG players loud and clear.
  • Avenging Huntbonder & Daring Fiendbonder are the two cards in the commander product that have keywords not featured in the main set - Indestructible & Double Strike.
