Grandmasters Shielded Conquest Format
New for season 2, the Hearthstone Grandmasters has moved away from the Specialist format and has introduced a new version of the beloved conquest. Here's how it works!
- Matches are Best of 3. (Old version it was Bo5)
- Players bring 4 decks.
- Before each match starts, each player chooses a deck to shield. This deck cannot be banned.
- After the shielded deck is chosen, each player bans a deck of their opponent.
- Winning a game with your deck means it cannot be played again in that match.
- The player that loses a game can choose to keep their current deck or switch to a different one.
- Players are told what classes their opponent has remaining but not which one that has been selected.
You can read more about why the format changed in Blizzard's post on it. Our own mrgn0me did an analysis on the format and how players may choose to build their lineups.

*Confirmation Bias Alert*
I was wondering if anybody else experienced it, I watched the previous week (when random drops for GM started) through my phone. Actually watched most of it, some just left my phone working while doing things like sleeping during Americas.Got exactly 0 packs. This week I watched quite a lot of it on my PC and so far got 3 packs aith a day to go. I wonder if watching through the app somehow doesn't register for the random drops.
*End of Confirmation Bias*
After one full day of stream, I collected (0) packs!
#neverlucky
I'm not a fan of the random 1500 drops (even though I've profited from them), but I would watch some of the matches before they started doing this, so from my point of view it's just gravy. I like the previous format better as well (i.e. watch x hours = receive x packs), but Blizzard is looking at numbers, and the possibility of getting something vs. a guaranteed drop wins out every time for gaining viewership.
Are they still doing drops for this?
I'll be honest: I don't really like this "drops" thing without any certain reward like it was 4, or even 1, months ago (you get 1 pack for 3 hours and another for 6).
This way, there's a really high chance people will get nothing after watching (and by watching I really mean it, not just opening a window and doing other stuff in the meanwhile) the Tournament for several hours.
It may be my guts to be speaking, but since they disabled the guaranteed drops I've been totally avoiding the tournament scene, while before I used to watch some of the games. It kinda feels like a joke to hope for one of 1500 packs when there are other 26k guys doing the same.
Maaan, if you want that bad to buy views, do it the proper way.
No hard feelings, just wanted to write how I felt for this.
Is honestly worse than that. Only some countries receive this random drops and I happen to live in one that doesn't.
The obligated drops every 3 hours I can get, this ones I can not do to twitch policies. It makes no sense and of course it makes me not want to watch at all.
This really has to change.
Were can you find the list of this countries?
Click the link at the very end of this blog. The list is right at the beginning of the ruleset.
They sure are! Don't forget to watch or "watch" the matches to get your share of them.
