Hearthstone's Fractured in Alterac Valley Rewards Track Detailed - Celeste Mage Hero Finally Appears, Largest Pass to Date

Published 4 years ago by

January 21, 2020 - Out of Cards datamines a brand new Mage Hero named Celeste becoming one of the most popular posts on the site.

Blizzard has revealed the details of the Fractured in Alterac Valley rewards track and wow, there is quite a bit of content on it! One of the biggest notes though comes from the addition of the Celeste card back and "Celestial Dragon Mage Hero Skin". It has been almost two years since we were first introduced to the concept of a new Mage Hero Skin named Celeste and she is finally here.

But, we're not just here to rave about how Celeste is finally a thing - the Alterac Valley Rewards Track's Tavern Pass upgrade adds an insane amount of content which hits all aspects of Hearthstone. The price hasn't changed a bit and the content has only increased - now this is how you get people to buy a pass, Blizzard!

You can see Celeste and associated card back at the top right!
Oh right, there's Battlegrounds, Mercenaries, and more too!

Alterac Valley Diamond Cards

Two cards are getting the Diamond treatment with Alterac Valley - Korrak the Bloodrager and Balinda Stonehearth! A third one will be made available at a later date based on the faction war.

Korrak is obtained instantly when you purchase the Alterac Tavern Pass with Balinda being a reward for owning 25 Alterac Valley legendary cards.

It isn't just you, Blizzard didn't upload animations to showcase.

Alterac Valley New Coins

We're getting two new Alterac Valley coins with the expansion.

  • Faction Pride - Earned by completing 90 levels of the Rewards Track. (Requires paid Tavern Pass)
  • Alterac General - Earned by collecting 135 unique Fractured in Alterac Valley cards.

Quote From Blizzard

Two new Cosmetic Coins are being added with Fractured in Alterac Valley, the Faction Pride coin and the Alterac General coin. The Faction Pride coin is obtained by completing the first 90 levels of the Rewards Track with the Tavern Pass. The Alterac General coin is obtained by collecting 135 unique Fractured in Alterac Valley cards.

Keep in mind that Fractured in Alterac Valley will have a 35-card Mini-Set that will make it easier to reach both the 25 total Fractured in Alterac Valley Legendary cards for the Belinda Stonehearth Diamond Legendary minion and the 135 total Fractured in Alterac Valley cards for the Alterac General coin. We’ll have more information to share about the Fractured in Alterac Valley Mini-Set in the coming months.

  • Anyone know if the among of gold is the same as last reward track?

    • the value of the free side hasn't been changed outside of the free Vanessa merc at level 0

  • It's nice that there seems to be more stuff with the Tavern Pass, but this will be a pass... for me.

The stuff from Mercenaries doesn't intice me much and the things from battlegrounds much less.

  • I skipped the last battlepass because the legendary was bad (at 8 mana it was too slow to do anything), I didn't like the cosmetics, so all I would get was 20% xp but even if the legendary in this pass turns out bad, all the extra stuff makes it worth it since it affects the other game modes (I play all modes except for Duel). This is how to make a good pass, more extra stuff!

  • So...am I missing something or did Tavish just get shafted and left behind in terms of portraits?

    • They are working on something for him (Source). I'm going to assume that'll be some kind of freebie if not straight to shop.

      Quote From Matt London

Do not fear, hunter fans. We are working on something for Tavish skins.

      • Oh okay, good to know. I very much hope its free, it would be a shame to lock one mercenary out of ten behind another purchase.

    • He most definitely did!  Never bought either of the Windrunner sisters for Hunter skins, and frankly don't want them, and every other Hunter portrait is a type of Rexxar.  Was hoping for the Tavish portraits to have more variety in that class.

  • As someone who dabbles in all game modes (with a major focus on constructed), this is a great deal. I have bought each tavern pass that has been offered to date with no regrets (the XP bonus has been well worth it, and I have enjoyed *some* of the cosmetics), and I will be grabbing this one too.

  • Really happy about Korrak being the Diamond card for the paid track. Looks useful enough and the Deathrattle will ensure that you get to see some more of him than of a regular minion. Nice one!

  • Its weird that despite the extra stuff on it, we dont have any tavish portaits in the pass here.

So tavish is/would be the only mercenary without any portaits, even more odd since AV is half about the stormpike dwarves which he is.

    • There will be the mini-set

    • I was wondering earlier today if they are going to have either an achievement to unlock a portrait or two, or if they'll include Tavish portraits in some sort of bundle offer.  Guess we'll see!

  • I dabble in all game modes and never bought a tavern pass. This amount of value and the bias towards dragons, I might be swayed to buy the pass this time...

    Well played Blizzard.

  • I bought the paid track for Stormwind, and I made over the difference in gold compared to the free track for the Barrens. The extra xp really helps. This time I am defiantly getting the paid track and I play a lot of BG's. It will be a lot of cosmetics for free as I usually would spend $20 on packs anyway and I will get back the gold to do that.

  • That's a LOT of stuff. And as long as the price remains the same, then it's a really good deal if you play Hearthstone AND BGs. Lots of cosmetics, and i'm surprised were getting Lokholar, the Ice Lord as the free legendary, that's really nice. Korrak the Bloodrager seems like it has potential to be a pretty sick diamon card, lets hope the animation is good! Glad to see that they finally added BG stuff to the tavern pass, and i guess mercenaries stuff. Iksarr already said they were planning this in a AMA some time ago, and i'm happy to see that they actually did it.

Also i'm pretty sure we also get a legendary quest chain or something at launch which gives us golden versions of some cards, so that's great too. (With the honor stuff) From what i can tell at first glance this tavern pass is looks generous. (let's hope they didn't lower the amount of earnable gold, but i guess we will hear about it once people finish with the calcs.) The free version looks great on first glance, and paid version seem very stacked. The tavern pass looks really good... as long as they don't up the price.

    • Pretty sure the free version has the exact same rewards as the current ones, plus the Vanessa merc.

  • What made the Celeste post so popular? It only got two votes leaving it at a 4/5, and it has less comments than any of the Q&A posts.

    • It hit reddit hard and other news sites. Being the source of information can be big traffic!

  • Lokholar, the Ice Lord for free are great news for me. It is the only legy card I was 100% sure I will craft - and now I don`t have to. Great! :)
