It's been over two weeks since the latest balance patch for Hearthstone's Standard & Wild formats toned down the power level of a number of cards, and we already saw another major content update arrive on May 10. Which means it's the final chance to remind everyone once again (besides a couple of days ago, we also did touch upon it briefly during our start of the month card back & important events post) about collecting their current card dust refunds before the opportunity window closes down for good.
There are 5 eligible picks in this instance (as Kael'thas Sunstrider doesn't count), including 2 Legendaries and 3 Commons:
- Kazakusan - Old: Battlecry: If all minions in your deck are Dragons, craft a custom deck of treasures. → New: Battlecry: If you played 4 other Dragons this game, craft a custom deck of treasures.
- Secure the Supplies (the third portion of the Warrior Questline, Raid the Docks) - Old: Play 2 Pirates. → New: Play 3 Pirates.
- Miracle Growth - Old: [Costs 7] → New: [Costs 8]
- Pufferfist - Old: 3 Attack, 4 Health → New: 3 Attack, 3 Health
- Switcheroo - Old: Draw 2 minions. Swap their stats. → New: Draw 2 minions. Swap their Health. (Also banned in Wild).
Now, the question mark in this case was very much justified, as we were unsure whether this round of dust refunds was meant to follow the usual guidelines: which would be returning full arcane dust value for around 2 full weeks, with a possible small extension to account for timezone differences. The blog post for the Patch 23.0.3 that brought us these buffs and nerfs read as follows:
Quote From Blizzard The cards listed above, except for the uncraftable Kael’thas Sunstrider, will be eligible for full dust refunds until May 12.
Which was a little unexpected, to say the least. As a whole, there've been some strange things going on with the dust refunds lately (a terribly short dust refund window for Sir Finley, Sea Guide and Ambassador Faelin at the start of this expansion, Pandaren Importer 'only' available for refunds for about 12 days rather than the normal 14, etc.).
In the end, it turned out that Hearthstone team was indeed feeling generous, with this round of refunds lasting all the way to May 12. Usually that window closes by 10:00 Pacific (16:00 ET, 19:00 CET), but it could happen sometime before or even after. You can still benefit if you hurry!
Card Nerfs for Voyage to the Sunken City - Round One
As always, there is no real harm in dusting everything for its full arcane dust value, since you can always recraft any cards at no loss at a moment's notice. Or even pull some of them from your packs in the future, once this opportunity is long gone.
Kazakusan and Raid the Docks have already received changes before, so chances are you might've collected your dust back then and never brought them to life again. But if you have recrafted or never disenchanted in the first place, you have this decision again in front of you. We won't even be too surprised if our suspicious treasure Dragon gets a third nerf at some point.
The other 3 cards are all of Common rarity and belonging to the latest Voyage to the Sunken City set, and so they are also the easiest to find during your pack openings - this could result in owning a larger number of copies or even Golden versions which are worth a lot more arcane dust.
Still have a number of card packs from the newest expansion sitting around? This might be the right moment to go for it and stack up on some potential extra crafting fuel. Don't forget to collect your new Rewards Track spoils, as that could amount to a lot of bonus gold and packs.
For what it's worth, all of the cards listed above are still very much being played in their respective decks. The nerfs didn't render anything here truly unusable. If you wish to have a quick look before making up your mind:
Refund Command in the Collection Manager
The option has been with us for a good while now, but it never hurts to mention one of our favorite quality of life improvements.
By typing 'refund' in the card collection search box, you are able to easily locate the cards in question and decide whether or not to pull that disenchanting trigger.
If you press the Crafting' button, the game will also show you any 'refundable' cards that you currently do not own, which can be useful: say, if you never owned and don't ever want to pull Kazakusan or Raid the Docks from your respective packs in the future (including the Standard Packs from the Rewards Track and Tavern Brawls), you could craft them while this dust refund window lasts, and then immediately disenchant for full value right after - which technically should trigger that lasting duplicate protection for the future.
Quote From Blizzard Searching “Refund” in the Collection will now populate with cards eligible for a dust refund.
P.S. Sometimes you may encounter a rare bug where refundable cards don't show as such or don't display full arcane dust returns, even though the refund window is still technically active. Always restart your Hearthstone client and double check again in such cases.
Holding onto any of the nerfed cards this time around or doing away with all of them for the time being? Did you get to collect a nice amount of arcane dust from all these Commons, or were the Sunken City packs not on your side?

thanks for the remind !
Thanks for the reminder! I had 5+ copies of each of those commons. Now I have dust.
