    PLEASE READ TIL THE END

Don't get me wrong, we've all been waiting for a card with this effect: too bad that it comes when Odd Warrior is not a thing in Standard or Wild anymore (R.I.P. Infinite Armor Druid 2019-2019 no one will miss you).

To be fair though, this card is really bad, and by that I mean that you wouldn't run it in your deck "just in case I face a Warrior or a Druid": it's still a 5 mana 5/5 that requires you a slot in your list and a turn to be played. If you need it that badly (especially now that Tank Up! is no harm) it means that your aggro gameplan isn't going that well. And I'm sure that the Devs balanced Platebreaker to be this way.

On the other side, I think this card is juicy for Combo decks that have limited reach. Imagine for example the Mind Blast Priest vs Odd Warrior matchup: it was a solid 90% win for the latter, right? Anduin's maximum reach was around 30 damage split in two turns and required Alexstrasza's setup, but Odd Warrior was able to stack so much armor that it was almost impossible to kill. Now imagine such a scenario but with Platebreaker: since Odd Warrior can't deal pressure at all, you can easily draw all your deck and set up your combo in the best way possible. It doesn't matter how much armor your opponent has gained through the match, they're suddenly in range.

That being said, I think this card will ever see play in Standard if Warrior will manage to build a strong Control list, but since Garrosh has got so many Tempo tools, I guess Platebreaker will see little play in the nearest future. Cool card, wrong meta (perhaps).

    I feel the same.

In standard, control warrior was losing its position anyways, and wasn't only relying on armor, but more on rush and taunt minions. Even then, this tech card will rotate in about 15 months or so.

In wild, let's face it, guys: armor is useless!! Just count how many warriors and druids you face in higher ranks. Even in these cases, I don't think aggro decks will sacrifice a precious slot (or even 2) with a 5/5 that costs 5 and doesn't do direct damage or something similar...

  • It will see play if there's a control deck with a limited damage finisher (for example Highlander Mage with Dragoncaller, Alex, Pyro and Fireball) if Warrior (or any class that can get a sizeable stack of armor, we have yet to see most of Druid's cards) becomes popular.

This is good because it finally removes the "this control deck could work, but it can't kill Warrior through 30 armor so it's useless" stereotype.

Now it's far more realistic to play something like Dragon Control Paladin with a Holywrath combo tagged on as a finisher (aka only 25 damage, no more, no less)

Hell, even something silly like Malylock is possible again.

Armor is no longer a "just builld it up over the game for an easy win" mechanic, but rather  a ressource that you can use to take less damage from weapon trades or use it with care as not to overcommit into PLatebreaker

  • It seems no control warriors would dominate the meta again in 1.5 years at least. R.I.P.

  • This makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside

  • This is just stupid

  • Good to see something to keep armor in check, but I wish it did something more interesting than simply destroying the armor.

Like what? Deathrattle: Make me a sandwich?

  • And there you go. The very existence of this card will be a deterrent to those decks whose game plan is stacking up armor until your opponent gives up or is forced to. This doesn't kill warriors, mind you; it just puts a stop to deep sleep tactics, while being a solid 5/5 for 5. Remember: you have max 2 copies of this in your deck. Warriors - with the right tools - can stack up armor forever. So you have to time the play right, and be ready to finish the match soon, otherwise you will go back to square one. Alexstrasza is now an even better finisher

  • I'm not sure what to think about this card. One aspect, it is a cool tech card against heavily armored Classes. On the other hand, it will feel so bad on the receiving end.

How do you play around this? How long should you hold your armor cards? When to use this tech card?

These are the questions swarming in my head now when I see this card.

    • The fact that this card makes you think about armor makes it a good print.

    • Eh, to be fair it feels really bad to play against decks that do nothing but stack armour either. This card however was needed last hearthstone year

  • This is just awesome. Accessible for anyone, decent stats and cool artwork :)

Will keep excessive armor in check, but won't kill those kinds of decks. Except for maybe Thekal. This dude now can't be dropped without following it up immediately with some heal.

  • Bravo Bizzard, bravo!

  • How the hell is this a common?

    • Blizzard didn't want for noobs to be upset about such counter being expensive.

  • Holy donkey balls! I never thought this would exist.

    • Hahah. Thats so irritating. :D

  • Something that should have been printed ages ago when we were playing and watching 100 armor, 2 hours long battles of control warrior mirrors.

A lot of sleepless nights and hearthstone commentators would not have died in vain.

Oh, and it nerfs thousand armor druid and giant paladin in wild. My tears cannot be held back any more.
