Happy birthday, Master Duel! It's been a little over 1 year since the game was released pretty much out of nowhere, and Konami is celebrating that milestone big time. Let's take a look at all the goodies the game will give players in the coming days!
Daily Logins and Anniversary Packs
First up, we have some rewards for logging in for 7 days. It doesn't have to be in a row, and you have plenty of time to get those rewards, as the campaign lasts until April 9th/10th (depending on your time zone). Spread across those 7 days you'll get 1000 Gems and 3 1st Anniversary Tickets.
The Tickets allow you to buy from specially selected packs, and you get a guaranteed Royal Finish UR from them (they can't be dismantled). Here are the packs you can buy:
- The Azure in the Ivory (Blue-Eyes)
- The Cerise in the Ebony (Red-Eyed)
- The First Heroes (Elemental Heroes)
- Stardust Ties (Stardust Dragon)
- Savage Crimson Dragon (Red Dragon Archfiend)
- Nebula Cyclone (Galaxy-Eyes)
- Counterswing Mages (Pendulum Magicians)
- Soldiers from the Storm (Code Talker)
Unfortunately, you can't just pick the pack you want to buy (despite what the in-game notification says). Once you claim your ticket, you'll be shown the 8 packs, then they will be covered up and shuffled, and you'll have to pick one of them basically at random. Once you get a pack, it won't be offered again on the next purchase. You can only do this up to 3 times, so you'll basically end up with 3 random packs and 3 URs from those packs at random. At least they're shiny!
Alternate Artwork Cards
Two Secret Packs, Immortal Royalty, which contains the Vampire and Eldlich archetypes, and Cosmic Mechanical Entities, which contains the Krawler, Mekk-Knight and Knightmare cards, are available until the 27th/28th of March to all players. During this time, alternate artwork versions of Eldlich the Golden Lord and Knightmare Unicorn (pictured below) can be obtained from those packs, as well as Master Packs, while the base versions of the cards are unobtainable from packs.
There's a good chance you won't be able to get those versions of the cards again after the anniversary period ends. Eldlich is a fairly decent deck, being Tier 1 back when the game launched, though it's been power-crept since then. Knightmare Unicorn is is a good generic Link-3 Monster that can allow you to draw extra cards and remove a card from the opponent's field.
Anniversary Bundle
Finally, we have the big one! If you looked at the items above and thought to yourself "What, no Dark Magician?", this bundle has you covered. For 3000 Gems, you get:
- 30 Master Packs.
- Dark Magician card in Royal Finish (can't be dismantled) with the alternate artwork from Structure Deck: Yugi Moto from 2016.
- "Memories of the Ancient Duel" Duel Field.
- The Millennium Puzzle Card Sleeve.
- The Millennium Puzzle Card Case.
- Dark Magician icon (alt art).
- Dark Magical Circle icon frame.
- Dark Magician Wallpaper (alt art).
If you don't care for the cosmetics, the bundle is basically just 30 Master Packs, which is what you'd normally get for that amount of Gems. That said, the cosmetics would add up to 1060 Gems, not counting the alternate art card and the Case, since there are no equivalents in the Shop (how are purchasable Card Cases not a thing?).
What do you think of the first anniversary update? Are you getting the bundle, or hunting for the alternate art cards? Let us know in the comments below!
