Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel Will Have Two Festivals This Months - The Returning Xyz Festival and the Brand New Legends Anthology

For the game's first birthday, Konami is giving players two festivals to take part in. The first is the Xyz Festival, which was the game's very first event. The second is the Legends Anthology, which encourages players to play with decks from the very begging of Yu-Gi-Oh's existence. Let's take a look!

Dates and Themes

Both festivals will start on the 16th/17th of February, and will end on the 25th/26th (depending on your time zone). The two events will run in parallel, and you'll be able to play in either one as you please, though there's little chance you'll be able to use the same deck in both due to their respective ban lists.

The Xyz Festival should be familiar to those who played the game since the beginning, as this is the very first festival the game received. The rules are pretty much the same: You're only allowed to use Xyz Monsters in your Extra Deck. Thankfully, there will be no self-TK decks running around this time.

The Legends Anthology is... a little odd. The description states that the festival will "feature event-exclusive regulations for cards and archetypes used by legendary Duelists such as Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Red-Eyes Black Dragon", so you'd expect it to be about really old archetypes used by anime characters, right? 

But then they allow archetypes that are both fairly new and not from the anime. It's a bit confusing. Granted, the more powerful stuff has been severely toned down via the ban list, and really new stuff like Dinomorphia, Runick and even the recently released Sprights has been greatly limited, so the event should be relatively low power-level.

Rewards

Sadly, two festivals does not mean double the rewards. Those have been effectively cut in half for each festival, so you'll end up with basically as much as before. Thankfully, the amount of Medals needed to unlock your rewards has also been sliced in two. 

Each event will reward with 950 Gems and 10 Legacy Tickets, for a total of 1900 Gems, same as usual, and 20 Tickets, 2 more than usual (yay...). As before, you get 500 Medals for winning, 50 for losing, and 0 for retreating.

The cosmetic items this time around are really good, consisting of field parts! More precisely, you get a Rank-Up-Magic Barian's Force Mate Base from the Xyz Festival and a GY/Banish zone piece inspired by Negate Attack, with a cool swirling animation.
