The second expansion of the Year of the Wolf, TITANS, is arriving today and with that comes new cards, a new meta, and a whole new round of achievements to complete for the rewards track. Let's dive into everything you need to know to set yourself up for success today.
When Does TITANS Launch?
TITANS arrives at 10 AM Pacific (1 PM Eastern, 19:00 CEST) on August 1, 2023. Refer to the countdown below - make sure your computer's clock is correct.
TITANS Fast Facts
- 145 new cards have been added to the game.
- New Keyword: Forge
- Drag these cards over your deck to upgrade them into their "forged" form. This costs 2 mana.
- New Keyword: Titan
- Minions with the new Titan keyword have three special activated abilities that they use instead of their normal attack.
- Each turn, including the turn you play them, you can choose to activate one of those abilities.
- Once an ability is used, that ability can’t be chosen again.
- Once all three abilities have been used, the Titan attacks normally instead of with its abilities.
- The Magnetic keyword is returning!
- Every class gets their own Titan card.
TITANS Freebies
- Login to obtain a free copy of the neutral location card, Prison of Yogg-Saron.
- This has been available since the patch that introduced the pre-order bundles so you may already have this.
- Ignis, the Eternal Flame is free at level 1 on the Rewards Track - just click on the track and claim him!
The Ulduar Grand Championship
The Ulduar Grand Championship will be available for roughly three weeks, starting on August 3 and ending on August 22 and brings the following rewards to the table:
- 2 Standard Packs
- 1 Golden Standard Pack
- 1 Festival of Legends Pack
- 2 TITANS Packs
- Death Knight Hero Skin
Progress will work like other in-game events that Hearthstone has put on in past expansions. You will complete special quests to earn points towards event progression, with regular reward unlocks. No details have been shared yet on the quests themselves, but we can almost certainly expect some synergy with the new cards.
TITANS Rewards Track / Tavern Pass
A fresh batch of achievements with XP and a new rewards track have been added to the game. There is plenty of stuff to obtain on both the paid and free halves of the rewards track so go grind those games! Check out all the details.
TITANS New Coins
It is tradition that new coin cards enter the fray on a new expansion launch and TITANS is no different.
- Ancient Coin - Earned by completing 90 levels of the Rewards Track. (Requires paid Tavern Pass)
- Ancestral Coin - Earned by collecting 145 unique TITANS cards.
Additionally, the Ancestral Coin will get easier to earn once the 38-Card Mini-set drops in the coming months.
TITANS Day 1 Theorycraft Budget Decks
Our own Sule has put together a list of eleven budget decks you may want to give a shot if you're playing Hearthstone on a budget or you just want something easy you can dive into and upgrade.
TITANS Community Compendium
I voted, you voted, we all voted; And then the math gods did some calculations and the scores are in! Our TITANS Community Compendium is now live and showcases the best and worst cards before we got a chance to play with them. How well will we do? We'll have to check back in a few weeks!
Good luck with your pack openings, first games, and may progress come to you easy for your achievements.
Comments
QoL upgrade: you can now buy multiple packs with gold in one transaction. I just bought 50 and it was delightfully fast.
That's not new. I've been buying packs 50 at a time with gold on launch day for the last couple years since I went F2P.
But they did add a toggle to do this more efficiently, which is nice.
It's new on mobile (Android). Previous expansion I purchased and confirmed each pack (100 gold) individually.
The "in one transaction" part is new: previously it would do a transaction for every pack you bought, which especially on launch day adds a noticeable delay (like half a second per pack) as a lot of people are buying packs.
It was always there on Android at least, you had to long press on the 100G price and it'd popup for a count field of how many packs to buy. Feel sorry for people like @DragonDraena who purchased one of a time what a pain caused by poor hidden UI.
Wishing everyone a great launch day! I hope your packs are full of legendaries and you have fun trying out new decks!
I've been playing Titans cards in Duels a lot and I gotta say, that Steamcleaner is going to be a necessary ETC target with those plagues that DK puts into your deck... they are ruthless in the long game
